After buying a laptop, many of its owners begin to notice that it "slows down". This means that all those daily tasks that were performed on it began to go through much slower than before. For inexperienced users, this is a real problem, but there is no point in sinning on production defects.
Just to get started, you need to take three simple steps, which, according to laptop repairmen, in 99% of cases completely solve the problem.
Step 1. Get rid of viruses
The laptop must have at least some Firewall installed (in extreme cases, at least Windows Firewall). The installed antivirus needs to be checked if it works at all, and its databases should be updated. Next, it's best to run a full deep scan of the entire computer. If a virus, worm or rootkit has entered the laptop, their spy work can cause the laptop to slow down. After cleaning the system and rebooting, everything should be fine.
Step 2. Optimization of the utilities
The best way is to install the free Ccleaner utility (preferably the latest version) and clean up all obsolete and temporary files with it. Next, you need to run a registry integrity check and, if possible, fix all errors. It is also advisable to remove all unused and old programs using Ccleaner. And also look through the list of autoruns and remove all those programs that are not needed at all every time you start Windows.
Step 3. Defragment your disks
Even if the analysis shows that defragmentation is not needed, it still needs to be started. After all, a single, but large, fragmented file can slow down the system. It is important to restart your laptop after each step. In most cases, these three steps are sufficient. But if such procedures did not help, there is another option - to restore the system, having previously copied all important files to another disk or medium. Recovery will need to be done from a checkpoint.
