Probably, many users are familiar with the situation when, when trying to write information to a memory card, a notification appeared that it was write-protected. Of course, this makes you want to remove the protection. After all, why then do we need a memory card, if not for storing and copying information? And it is removed quite simply.

It is necessary

  • - A computer;
  • - memory card;
  • - card reader.

Instructions

Step 1

There can be several situations in which the message about the write-protect of the memory card appears. A fairly common case looks like this. You bought a card reader, inserted a memory card into the device, and then tried to copy information to it. But instead of starting the copying process, a notification appears that the card is write protected. In fact, the problem here is not in the memory card itself, but in the card reader. Some models of card readers have switches. Study the device carefully. If you find such a switch, just slide it to a different position.

Step 2

If, for example, you inserted a memory card into the camera, and a notification appears that it is write-protected, then you need to proceed as follows. Study the map carefully. It should have a small slider on it. When you find the slider, just move it from the Lock position to the opposite one. After that, protection from it will be removed. Please note that this lever is not available on all memory cards. If you didn’t find it, then most likely this is not the problem.

Step 3

Very often, an error message appears when trying to write a file larger than 4 gigabytes to microSD memory cards. This means that your card is running the FAT32 file system. This file system has its own limitations in copying information to memory cards. In order to remove these restrictions, it is necessary to change this file system to NTFS.

Step 4

To do this, simply connect the memory card to your computer using a card reader or in another way convenient for you. Save all data from the card to your computer hard drive. Then click on its icon with the right mouse button and select "Format" in the context menu. Select NTFS file system. Finish formatting.
