At first glance, the Minimize All Windows icon is completely useless. Therefore, sometimes users remove it from the list of programs in Explorer. But what if you need it urgently? Where to find it? The answer is simple - in a computer, in which a little work has to be done beforehand.
Instructions
Step 1
Returning the "Minimize All Windows" shortcut to its usual place in the Control Panel is difficult, but possible. The file "Minimize all windows / Shows Desktop" in Windows XP is located in a special system folder on the computer. This 79-byte file with an SCF (Shell Command File) extension is located in the Documents and Settings folder. To find it, you need to sequentially open the following folders Application Data, Microsoft, Internet Explorer, Quick Launch in the user's personal documents. In Windows Vista, this file is somewhat heavier - 258 bytes - and it is also located in the system folders UsersUserNameAppDataRoamingMicrosoftInternet ExplorerQuick Launch. And just like in Windows XP, the Minimize All Windows icon is easy in Windows Vista. By the way, in both systems it is restored in the same way.
Step 2
To do this, on the working window, right-click on the free space, select the "Create" function and specify the file type - "Text document". Then give it a name - Minimize all windows or alternatively use Shows Desktop. Open the file and add the following text to it: [Shell] Command = 2IconFile = explorer.exe, 3 [Taskbar] Command = ToggleDesktop You can copy or type the text yourself. Then save the document.
Step 3
For the system to "run" this file, change its extension to SCF. To do this, in My Computer, select Tools, then Folder Options and View. Then in the "Additional parameters" uncheck the box next to the line "Hide extensions for registered file types". Save the changes with the "OK" button. Change the document extension from.txt to.scf. After warning the system about the change of the extension, mark that you agree with the change and press "Yes" as confirmation of the actions. Then check the box again in the item "Hide extensions for registered file types" located in the "Additional parameters" of "View" and "Properties of the folder".
Step 4
You can also change the extension in an easier way. To do this, in the text document, select the "File" and "Save As" items and specify "All files" in the "File type" column. Select this item from the drop-down window. In the "File name" line, specify "Minimize all windows", put a period and add the required extension - scf. Save your changes.
Step 5
Then place the Minimize All Windows.scf file in the destination folder. On Windows XP, this is Documents and Settings UserName Application Data Microsoft Internet Explorer Quick Launch. On Windows Vista, UsersUserNameAppDataRoamingMicrosoftInternet ExplorerQuick Launch.
Step 6
Drag the document shortcut to the Desktop, and from there to the Quick Launch.
