One of the typical tasks solved in the process of photo retouching is the elimination of various defects in the form of irregularities. The nature of distortions can be of different types, therefore, the approaches to their removal are different. You can remove any irregularities from the photo in the graphics editor Adobe Photoshop.

It is necessary

  • - Adobe Photoshop;
  • - the original image.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the image you want to remove the jaggies in Adobe Photoshop. Use the key combination Ctrl + O or the "Open …" item in the File section of the main menu.

Step 2

Analyze the nature of the irregularities to be removed. If they are caused by distortions introduced by the optical system of the photographic equipment ("curved" outlines of objects, etc.), proceed to the third step. To remove unevenness caused by the texture or texture of objects, go to step 6.

Step 3

Proceed to correct unevenness caused by optical distortion. Select the items Filter, Distort and "Lens Correction …" from the main menu. In the dialog that appears, activate the Preview and Show Grid options. Press the Zoom Tool button and set a convenient scale for viewing the resulting image.

Step 4

Remove perspective and nonlinear irregularities. Change the Remove Distortion, Horizontal Perspective and Vertical Perspective parameters in the Lens Correction filter window. Focus on the horizontal and vertical grid lines displayed after enabling the Show Grid option. Remove the overall tilt of the image, if any, by changing the Angle parameter.

Step 5

Apply a filter. Click the OK button in the current dialog. If necessary (the appearance of semi-transparent areas at the edges) crop the image with the Crop Tool.

Step 6

Remove large irregularities and distortions of the background with the Patch tool. In any convenient way, create a selection area around the fragment to be adjusted. Activate the Patch Tool (you can also create a selection with this tool). Grab the selection with the mouse and drag it to an area of the image that has a background similar to the one around the bump.

Step 7

Remove small irregularities with the Clone Stamp and Healing Brush tools. Their principle of operation is the same. After activation, select a suitable brush, setting the hardness and transparency parameters. Then specify the initial location of the background sample by clicking on the image while holding down the Alt key. Then just brush over the desired spots.

Step 8

Save the processed image. From the File menu, choose "Save As …" or press Ctrl + Shift + S. Specify the directory, format and file name. Click "Save".
