Audiobooks are not only fun, but also a useful educational tool. For this reason, audio textbooks are becoming especially popular, especially in disciplines that imply an abundance of textual information, for example, history, geography, sociology, etc.

To create an audiobook with your own hands, it is not necessary to read the text into the microphone yourself. Now there are modern and, most importantly, fairly quick means for this. They are called speech synthesizers.

Synthesized speech has its drawbacks, of course, and many people don't like its metallic sound. However, the problem can be solved if from the very beginning you choose the correct and suitable speech mechanism for creating an audiobook. Examples are Elan TTS Nikolai and ScanSoft Katerina, which synthesize male and female speech, respectively.
Step 4
Once you have decided on a speech engine, move on to selecting high-quality software. There are a lot of options, for example, free ABoo, ICE Book Reader and the most popular "Govorilka".
Step 5
ABoo is a highly specialized software that can only create audio recordings and read text. She has no additional options, but she performs her only functions with dignity. It can handle several text formats, including DOC, RTF, TXT, HTM, and save the audio file in two formats, the popular MP3 and the slightly less common WAV.
Step 6
Start the ABoo program. In fields 1 and 2 at the top of the window, select the source text file and the path where you want to save the final audiobook. In this case, you will see the text in the white window in the center of the screen. Now go to the settings at the bottom of the window.
Step 7
Select a speech engine in the "Voice" field, for example, ELAN TTS Russian, the desired quality in the "Compression" field. Work with other settings, pick your preferred option. You can listen to a fragment before recording to evaluate the future quality, for this click the button in the lower right corner of the screen. When you're done, click the button in the upper right corner, with a green triangle.

ICE Book Reader is much more functional, however, oddly enough, it does not have a preview button. But it has many additional settings, including advanced options for audio files, including bit rates, channels, etc.
Step 9
"Govorilka" has a more familiar structure for Windows users, with menus and familiar buttons for opening and saving files. To create an audiobook, you need to select in the "Play" field. item "Write to file" and enter the path to it in the field opposite. The program is launched by pressing the F5 button.
