Instructions

Step 1

If in Photoshop you need to cut out a part of an image of a rectangular or elliptical shape, activate the Rectangular Marquee or Elliptical Marquee tool, respectively. Use the mouse to create a selection area of the desired shape and size. Adjust it if necessary by choosing Transform Selection from the Select menu. Press Ctrl + X or use the Cut item on the Edit menu.

Step 2

If you need to cut out a fragment in the shape of a polygon, use the Polygonal Lasso Tool. Activate it. Click the points that are the vertices of the clipping area. After creating the selection, press Ctrl + X.

Step 3

If the shape you want to cut is complex enough but has contrasting outlines, select the Magnetic Lasso Tool. Adjust the parameters of its operation by changing the values in the top panel. Draw the outline of the cutout fragment with the tool. Press Ctrl + X.

Step 4

When cutting out solid or fairly solid areas and objects, use the Magic Wand Tool. Activate this tool by clicking the corresponding button in the toolbar. Set the Tolerance parameter in the top panel, setting the allowable deviation from the original color when defining the borders. Click on the area to be cut out. Press Ctrl + X.

Step 5

Use the Quick Selection Tool to quickly cut out fairly uniform sections of images with clear boundaries. After activating the tool, configure the parameters of its operation. Click and drag over the adjacent areas of the clipping area. After creating a selection of the desired shape, press Ctrl + X.
