With the release of the new operating system from Microsoft, the number of people who are dissatisfied with the new Start menu is growing. As you may have guessed, we are talking about the new operating system Windows 7. Many users would like to return the classic Start menu, familiar to us after Windows XP. There are many programs that will help you customize anything you want on different operating systems. But you can do without them. Now we will tell you how to return the classic All Programs menu without using special and, as a rule, expensive tools.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the start menu. In the search box, type "regedit" and press "Enter".
Step 2
Next, go through the registry tree, find the following key:
"HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Explorer / Shell Folders".
Step 3
Double-click the left mouse button on the “Favorites” key in the table on the right.
Change the value of the "Value data" field to the following value: "C: / ProgramData / Microsoft / Windows / Start Menu / Programs" and click "OK".
Step 4
Find the key below: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Explorer / User Shell Folders". Also, double click on the “Favorites” key in the right table.
Change the Value data to the following: C: / ProgramData / Microsoft / Windows / Start Menu / Programs and click OK.
Step 5
After all registry changes are saved, close the registry editor.
Step 6
Go to the properties of the "Start" menu. To do this, right-click on it and select "Properties".
Step 7
In the window that opens, select the "Start Menu" tab, click the "Customize" button in it.
Step 8
Check the box next to the "Favorites" menu, click OK.
Step 9
Now you need to save all the changes and restart your computer.
Step 10
After restarting your computer, you will see that the Programs item appears on the right side of the Start menu. As in the Windows XP operating system, this menu will display all programs that are installed on the computer.
Step 11
Unfortunately, after all the steps taken, the Start menu will not be exactly the same as in Windows XP, but at least the search for programs will be more familiar and convenient.
