Quite often, the serial number can be found on the packaging for the processor. But if the computer was assembled for you at a service center, or you bought an already assembled PC, then the packaging for the components might not have been given to you.

Sometimes the serial number of the processor is indicated in the warranty certificate for it. Also, you have the right to demand the processor serial number from the seller. He must have such information, and he is obliged to provide it to you.

Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to find out the serial number of the processor using various operating system tools and programs. On modern processors, the output of the serial number is programmatically blocked. Therefore, if using the above methods you did not manage to find it out, you will have to open the system unit.

Unplug your computer from the electrical outlet. Remove all peripherals. Unscrew the fastening screws and remove the cover of the system unit. Next, you need to remove the cooling from the processor. This is the heatsink on which the cooler is located. Most radiators are detached using a lever. Sometimes it is also necessary to unscrew the fastening screws. After detaching the heatsink, you will gain access to the processor. It is optional to retrieve it; wipe off the thermal grease from the processor using a tissue paper, after which you will see the serial number. If the symbols are difficult to see, you can highlight them with a flashlight.

Before attaching the heatsink, you need to apply a thin layer of thermal paste to the processor. If thermal paste is out of stock, you can purchase it from any computer store. Install the heatsink back, close the cover of the system unit, connect peripheral devices. You now have a serial number. It is better to keep it in a secluded place so that you do not have to remove the radiator again.
