In text documents, it is possible to display text as a superscript only if the file format in which it will be stored provides for the ability to format the text. For example, documents in txt format do not have such an opportunity, and the formats of common office applications Word (doc, docx), Excel (xls, xlsx) or web pages (htm, html) will display the superscript without problems.
Instructions
Step 1
If the superscript must be placed in the text that will be stored in the document format of the text editor Microsoft Office Word, then it is very easy to make any sign "superscript". It is enough to select the desired character (or group of characters), and then click the corresponding icon in the editor menu - it is placed in the "Font" command group on the "Home" tab. You can also use the "hot keys" assigned to this operation CTRL + alt="Image" + Plus.
Step 2
In the spreadsheet editor Microsoft Office Excel, this function is hidden a little deeper. In the group of commands "Font" the necessary icon is not here, but this function is still there. To use it, select the necessary signs of the inscription, right-click the selection and select the item "Format cells" in the drop-down context menu. Instead of the context menu, you can use the keyboard shortcut CTRL + 1. In the window that opens, check the "superscript" checkbox and click the "OK" button.
Step 3
In the graphics editor Adobe Photoshop, text formatting is also possible using the Type tool. The corresponding controls are placed on the "Symbol" panel. You can open it through the "Window" section in the editor menu. There is an item in it, which is called “Symbol”. The icon with the letter T with a superscript is placed in the middle of the row of icons in the penultimate line of this panel. After highlighting the necessary characters in the text, click this icon.
Step 4
If you want to display a superscript on a web page, the easiest way is to use the appropriate HyperText Markup Language (HTML) tag. It consists of two parts (opening and closing), and between them characters are placed, which should be displayed as superscript. This tag is denoted as sup, and the text using it in the source code of the document may look, for example, like this: E = mc2
