If, as a result of some actions, system and command files have been damaged, the operation of a computer running OS Windows becomes difficult or impossible. There are several ways to restore Windows components.
Instructions
Step 1
If System Restore is enabled on your computer, select Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and System Restore from the Start menu. Mark the restore point closest to the date when the fatal changes were made to the system.
Step 2
Insert the Windows installation disc into the drive. To call the program launch line, use the Win + R combination. Enter the sfc / scannow command, which checks and repairs the integrity of system files.
Step 3
If the system fails to boot, try repairing components in safe mode. To do this, after the initial polling of iron, press F8. In the boot options menu, use the control keys to mark "Load Last Known Good Configuration". Select an earlier restore point by date.
Step 4
If this does not help, restart your computer again and select the first item - "Safe Mode" in the boot options menu. In response to the system's question about the continuation of work, answer "Yes". Call the program start line and repeat the steps to restore the system to work.
Step 5
Set the BIOS to boot from CD / DVD-ROM. To do this, restart your computer and wait for the “Press Delete to setup” prompt to appear on the screen. Instead of Delete, the BIOS designer can assign a different key, usually F2, F9, or F10.
Step 6
In the settings, find the item for defining the boot sequence. In some BIOS versions, it is called Master Boot Record. It lists the boot devices installed on the computer: FDD, CD / DVD-ROM, HDD, USB. Use the control keys to designate the CD / DVD-ROM as the first device.
Step 7
Press F10 to save your changes and answer “Y” to the system question. Insert the Windows installation disc into the optical drive and restart your computer. Specify CD as boot device when asked by system.
Step 8
When the setup wizard welcomes you, press R to launch the Recovery Console. Log in to the system as an administrator. Enter the password if it has been set. Type chkdsk / r at a command prompt to find and repair corrupted files.
Step 9
For a complete list of commands, enter help at the command line. For detailed information about a specific program, type help command_name.
