BIOS is the main and primary system for configuring a computer. Many important system parameters can only be specified using the BIOS. And incorrectly set options in the items of this menu can lead to the fact that the computer will stop booting. Or refuses to run beyond the start screen. There are several ways to restore everything to its original state and fix errors in the settings.

Instructions

Step 1

Turn on the computer and immediately after the logo of the motherboard manufacturer appears on the black screen, press the Delete button. Alternatively, instead of the logo, a summary of textual information about the computer may appear, for example, the type and model of the processor, the amount of RAM, and so on. Proceed in the same way - press Delete several times.

Step 2

In some models of motherboards, the button for entering BIOS settings is different, it can be F2, F10 - usually it is written in the bottom line of the screen. Therefore, pay close attention to the text on the screen and follow the manufacturer's instructions. After pressing the correct key, a window with the menu lines of the main computer setup system will appear on the monitor.

Step 3

Press the up / down arrows or left / right arrows to navigate through the BIOS menus. The structure of the items differs for different manufacturers of motherboards and firmware, so it is impossible to precisely specify the location of the desired menu.

Step 4

Look for an inscription similar to Load fail safe defaults or just Default settings. When you find the item you want, press the Enter button to reset the settings to the original position.

Step 5

Then select the Save & Exit menu and press the enter key again. Confirm your choice by pressing the button displayed on the computer screen. After a reboot, all parameters will be reset to their original position.

Step 6

For cases when the automatic protection against incorrect settings did not work and the computer refuses to enter the BIOS by pressing a button on the keyboard, there is another, more radical way. Open the side wall of the system unit and find the round large battery. Pull it out of its slot in the motherboard and leave it on for 15 minutes. Then put the battery back in the slot and turn on the computer. The settings will return to standard state.
