If a computer is used by several users at once, a situation often arises when one of them changes the browser settings beyond recognition. At the same time, sometimes it is easier to reset its settings to the initial ones, and only then configure it at your discretion. They are stored in a special file.

Instructions

Step 1

The first way to reset your Opera browser settings to their original settings is to uninstall the program and then reinstall it. Do this only as a last resort.

Step 2

If you decide to return the Opera browser to its original settings without uninstalling it, in Linux go to your user folder and then delete the folder called ".opera" (with a period, but without quotes) from there. Or go to this folder, and in it - to the "profile" folder (also without quotes). In this folder, find the one of the ini files, the settings of which you want to reset, and delete it. If you are a root user (root), if necessary, go through the corresponding folders of other users and reset the settings and their browsers.

Step 3

In the Windows operating system, configuration files can be located in different folders, depending on the version. Run the OS built-in file finder. Search for a file called "operaprefs.ini" (also without quotes). The folder in which this file will be found contains the rest of the settings files for the Opera browser. In some versions of Windows, Opera creates several such folders, according to the number of users, similar to how it is done in Linux.

Step 4

Remember that in Opera browsers versions 9 and below, the main settings file is named "opera6.ini" instead of the name "operaprefs.ini".

Step 5

Launch your browser. Upon detecting that the folder with the settings files or some of these files does not exist, it will restore the corresponding settings to those set by default, and then re-create the corresponding files.

Step 6

If you are prompted to re-accept the license agreement, accept it. You may also be prompted to re-enable mouse controls, save passwords, and so on.

Step 7

Customize your browser the way you are used to. Be sure to turn off password management and auto-complete forms, and turn on sign-out confirmation.
