At the level of simple everyday communication, the dimensions of the monitor can be characterized without unnecessary intricacies: large, medium, small. But sometimes you need to know the diagonal of the monitor. It is measured, unfortunately, not in the usual centimeters, but in inches.

Step 1
The first way to find out the diagonal of the monitor is the simplest and most logical - to look at the documentation for your monitor. Any bona fide manufacturer indicates all the necessary characteristics of the equipment in the passport and applies the appropriate marking on the packaging.
Step 2
If for some reason the documentation for your monitor is not available, take a look at your monitor from different angles. The manufacturer often places information about the equipment on information stickers. They are most often found on the back of the monitor.
Step 3
In the event that you could not find any stickers or identification marks on the monitor case, arm yourself with a ruler or measuring tape. Measure the diagonal of your monitor. The diagonal is measured from the lower left corner to the upper right corner (or vice versa). Convert the resulting size into inches - divide the number of centimeters by 2, 4. As a result, you will get the size of your monitor in inches.
Step 4
On average, the ratio of the diagonal in centimeters and in inches will look like this: - 33.5 centimeters = 14 inches; - 35 centimeters = 15 inches; - 40.5 centimeters = 17 inches; - 47.5 centimeters = 20 inches; - 50.3 centimeters = 21 inches.

Different screen resolutions are recommended for monitors with different sizes. If you want to set a different resolution for your screen, use the capabilities of the system. Right-click anywhere on the Desktop that is free of files and folders and select Properties from the drop-down menu.

In the "Properties: Display" dialog box that opens, go to the "Options" tab. In the “Screen resolution” section, use the slider to set the value you need and click on the “Apply. The system will show you how the elements will look at the new resolution. If you are satisfied with the result, confirm your choice. Close the properties window by clicking the OK button or the X icon in the upper right corner of the window.
