In personal computers without a touchscreen, the on-screen keyboard is used primarily for typing text using the mouse pointer. You can also control it with one key of your choice. The graphical interface of this program mimics a standard keyboard, almost exactly repeating the layout of the buttons. An application of this kind is included in the Windows operating system.
Instructions
Step 1
Press the Win key or click on the "Start" button to enter the main menu of the Windows operating system. Expand the "All Programs" section and go to the "Accessories" subsection - this is one of the last lines in the list of this section. Scroll to the bottom again and select the "Accessibility" section. And finally, the last action in the main menu is to click on the On-Screen Keyboard link.
Step 2
When this application is launched for the first time, an informational message appears on the screen that does not carry any functional load. In it, Microsoft says there are other programs for people with disabilities in the Windows operating system. To prevent this window from appearing on subsequent launches, check the Do not display this message again box.
Step 3
You don't have to use the OS main menu to bring up the on-screen keyboard if you prefer to do without a mouse. Press the key combination Win and R to display the program launch dialog on the screen. Type a short command of three Latin letters osk and press the Enter key. A simulated keyboard will appear on the screen as in the previous step.
Step 4
Some websites have simplified on-screen keyboards built into their pages. For example, many online banks offer their customers to use such panels to enter logins, passwords and other information into web forms. This allows you to protect yourself from a whole class of spyware - keyloggers. And in the popular Google search engine, an icon for calling a simplified analogue of the keyboard, if necessary, appears between the search query input field and the button for sending it to the server.
Step 5
Install an additional program that creates an on-screen analogue of the keyboard if the capabilities of the application built into the OS do not suit you. You can find a suitable option on the Internet.
