One of the main trends in the world of computer technology is to reduce the physical parameters of devices. This also applies to laptops. Laptop computers are getting thinner and lighter every year. Such dynamics of characteristics is achieved by using more modern materials and technologies. The lightest laptop to date weighs less than a kilogram.

On the website of the Taiwanese company Gigabyte Technology (https://www.gigabyte.ru/) there is information about the new X11 notebook, which weighs only 975 g. Today experts consider this model the lightest in its class. In a press release, the company says that the presented laptop has a screen size of 11.6 inches. The thickness of the product also breaks records - at its thinnest point it is 16.5 mm.

The manufacturer, presenting a new model, avoids the name "ultrabook", although according to some characteristics the novelty falls into this class. It should be clarified that ultra-thin and lightweight subnotebooks with compact dimensions and low weight characteristics, which have all the hallmarks of a full-fledged laptop, belong to the category of ultrabooks.

The screen of the novelty has a resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels. The Ivy Bridge processor is provided with 4 GB of memory. The computer is equipped with a 128 GB SSD. The ultra-light model is equipped with DisplayPort and USB ports, microSD card slot and Wi-Fi. The base X11 model will be running Windows 7. It is estimated that the price of the laptop will range from $ 1000 to $ 1300, depending on the configuration. The approximate timing of the new items on sale is July 2012. The innovative product was already demonstrated on June 6, 2012 at the COMPUTEX 2012 exhibition.

The use of modern composite materials, in particular carbon fiber (carbon fiber), allowed the X11 to be as light as possible. Carbon fiber components are not only lightweight, but also highly durable. Aluminum is also used in the manufacture of the laptop - a loop is made of it, which connects both halves of the device.

The news agency Lenta. Ru names a device of the ultrabook class Asus Zenbook UX21E as one of the closest competitors of the said laptop. This model has a similar screen size but weighs 125g more than the X11. So in the near future, the creation of Gigabyte Technology, apparently, will retain the palm in the lightest notebook market.
