HDD is the oldest of the three options listed. The data is stored here on magnetic platters. They are read by special heads. Hence, the main drawback is the relatively low speed of reading and writing data. To read a file from different parts of the disk, the heads have to move and spend time on this.
However, the plus is also obvious - the minimum cost of 1 MB of information. You can afford a 500GB drive without spending too much.

SSD - solid state disk. In fact, it is a big flash drive. It has no moving parts, and therefore the reading speed is limited only by the speed of the memory chips installed on it. The main advantage is fast loading of Windows and "heavy" applications like Adobe Photoshop. The main plus from the point of view of a laptop is that it is ready to work in 2 seconds after opening the lid!
The downside is the high cost. Even 256GB models are rare in the consumer market. Today this is the limit for the price range of 1000-1500 USD.

SSD + HDD is a tandem of a small SSD, for example, 24 GB, and a large HDD. Plus - in Windows 8.1, the laptop wakes up several times faster than a regular brother with an HDD. Another big plus is that you can afford a large drive, 500 GB or more.
Disadvantages are inherited from HDD - low read and write speed compared to SSD.
