For some video messaging programs, you need to connect not only an audio output device (headphones or speakers), but also an input device (microphone). If you can't afford to buy a new microphone, use the headphones you don't need and use them like a microphone.

It is necessary

  • - a pair of headphones;
  • - plugs such as "jack 3, 5", "jack 6, 3", "DIN".

Instructions

Step 1

To use the headphones as a microphone, you must switch them from one jack to the other. This defines the green connector for the output devices, and pink for the input devices. After switching, try to use only the right speaker (the inscription on the headphone is right), because the microphone jack is a mono circuit.

Step 2

To use the two parts of the headphones, you need to solder them by cutting off the old plug. Solder the wires to the new mono plug using the same color wire to the base, connect the colored wires together, then solder to the other pin of the plug. After soldering, wait for the wires to cool, assemble the plug and only then use it for its intended purpose.

Step 3

If you need to use the microphone not for messaging over the Internet, but for karaoke, the connector of which is different (jack 6, 3), use the scheme described above. All actions are the same, since the principle of operation of both types of plugs is reduced only to signal transmission. Please note that you can use headphones instead of a microphone through other jacks.

Step 4

Until now, DIN plugs have not disappeared from the sale. This standard appeared in Soviet times and was used in almost all spheres of household appliances. You just need to open the plug and solder the headphone wires to 1, 3 and 5 pins. "Base" connects to the 3rd contact, the left and right channels - to the 1st and 5th contacts. If the input sound seems low, try switching the channel wires first to pin 1 and then to pin 2.

Step 5

The only difficulty you may encounter is the quiet sound. This is due to the absence of a preamplifier module in the headphone device, which is not provided by design. If you already have an unnecessary audio device, such as a tape player or amplifier, use it to increase the signal level.
