The task of preventing the installation or removal of applications is one of the most common problems in computer administration. The standard tools of the Microsoft Windows XP operating system do not provide password protection, but they can solve this problem without the involvement of additional software.
Instructions
Step 1
Use the simplest option to restrict the rights of a user account and change your administrator login and password.
Step 2
Call the main menu of the Microsoft Windows XP operating system by clicking the "Start" button and go to the "Run" item to carry out the procedure for prohibiting the installation of applications using the registry editor.
Step 3
Enter regedit in the Open field and confirm the launch of the Registry Editor tool by clicking OK.
Step 4
Expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesUnistall registry key and set the NoAddRemovePrograms parameter to = dword: 00000001.
Step 5
Make sure that the NoAddPage parameter value is = dword: 00000001 and the NoNetSetup key in the HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesNetwork branch is = dword: 00000001. The first action will prevent the Add Programs applet from being displayed, and the second will prevent the Network applet from being displayed.
Step 6
Change the value of the NoNetSetupIDPage and NoNetSetupSecurityPage parameters to = dword: 00000001 to prevent the Identity and Access Control tabs from displaying in the Network applet, and exit the Registry Editor tool.

Return to the main Start menu and go to Run again to make the necessary changes to the local security policies.

Enter the value secpol.msc in the "Open" field and confirm the launch of the console by clicking OK.

Expand the Software Restriction Policy and go to the Designated File Types section.

Uncheck the LNK box and go to the Enforcement group.

Apply the checkbox to the All Users Except Local Administrators field and go to the Security Level group.

Apply the checkbox to the Disallowed field and specify the program folders allowed to run in the Additional Rules section.

Return to the Registry Editor utility window again and expand the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT branch.

Specify the.exe parameter and click the Edit menu in the top toolbar of the editor window.

Specify the "Delete" command and confirm the execution of the command by pressing the OK button.
