First, reboot the system unit. It is possible that the lack of sound is due to a software glitch and the operating system returns to normal after a reboot. Speakers are usually equipped with a separate power switch with volume control - check if the control works. If you have another computer that is working properly, check the functioning of the audio devices on it.

In the event that the external audio devices are working properly, and the sound still does not work, you need to proceed to checking the computer settings. If you have a Windows operating system, look for the speaker symbol in the lower right corner of the monitor. Make sure the symbol is not crossed out. When you hover over the speaker icon and left-click, an image of the volume slider will appear. Set the slider to the extreme position corresponding to the maximum volume.

Check if there is no sound at all or only when playing multimedia files. If there is no sound at all, check if the drivers for your audio system are installed. An exclamation mark indicates that the required drivers are missing. You can download them from the manufacturers' official websites. If the audio playback device is turned on and functioning, but there is no sound or picture when playing a media file, it is obvious that the necessary codecs for playback are not installed. It is also possible to download them on the official websites of the manufacturers of codec packages.

If the sound still does not appear, then there is probably a malfunction of the audio card. If possible, make sure the sound card is working properly by installing it on another computer. Modern faulty audio cards must be replaced - if the card is broken, you will need to purchase a new one to restore the audio system to work.

In the event that the audio card is in good working order, you need to check for conflicting software. Reinstall the operating system with an earlier date. it is possible that some service routine or a virus blocking the audio card has been installed. Recovery will delete such a subroutine, so it becomes clear whether this is the cause of the malfunction or not.
