Considering the high cost of original Playstation 2 discs, a good way to save money is to burn your games to DVDs. The cost of this method of obtaining new games is incomparably lower than the cost of even one such disc, however, in order to record them, you will have to comply with certain conditions and work a little.
It is necessary
Blank DVD discs (TDK, Verbatim, Philips, Sony, Fujifilm, Samsung, Memorex), DVD burner, and a decoded PlayStation 2
Instructions
Step 1
The main condition for playing self-recorded discs is a split set-top box. The recorded game will work on a non-chip set-top box.
Step 2
Download the game. In the overwhelming majority of cases, game images are compressed into rar-archives or 7zip-archives (the latter must be unpacked with 7zip archivers of any version or WinRAR of the latest version). After this process, the hard disk will contain the image of the game (* MDF & MDS, * ISO, * NRG or some other resolution). If the folder that was downloaded contains a large number of archive files, then you should select the first archive by number (for example, 00 or 01), and select the "Extract" command.
Step 3
Install the Nero program (or Alcohol 120%, or DVD Descrypter, or ImgBurn, or CloneCD or UltraIso, it doesn't really matter) and through it burn images to discs at four or six times speed. If the drive is of high quality, the set-top box is of the latest model, and the disc is from a reputable manufacturer, you can record at a higher speed. To write CD-R discs, set the speed to sixteen times or higher, most drives do not support lower speed.
Step 4
Test the game. If certain problems arise - for example, the game will not be read by the console, or the videos will slow down during playback, then several options are possible. Either the computer drive breaks down and is no longer able to write discs of proper quality, or the reading head of the set-top box drive begins to fail, or the game image recorded on the disc carries some software errors. A consistent exception should identify the problem and take steps to correct it.
