A video card is an important component of a computer, designed to calculate an image and transfer it to a monitor. However, the installation of the adapter is not always successful. Some users are faced with the fact that the computer "does not see" the device.
Setting up the video card
Make sure the video card is properly installed and connected to the motherboard. You can learn more about installing the device from the instructions for the video card or on the website of its manufacturer. Check the attachment of the cables and make sure that the monitor is operational and configured to transmit video signals.
The problem with the fact that the computer "does not see" the installed video card may lie in incorrect BIOS settings. Restart or turn on your computer and press the F2 or DEL key to enter the settings menu. Browse through the available BIOS sections and select the one that matches the video adapter settings. Its name may contain words such as Video, Display, Graphic or VGA.
Enable adapter options such as VGA, Video, and Primary Display. Set the bus of your video card: PEG, IGD, PCI or AGP. Press the F10 key to save the settings and restart the computer. After that, check if the operating system will start loading, and if a positive result is achieved, make sure that the installed video card is present in the list of connected computer devices.
Additional features
Update your graphics card driver. If you are having problems with the image, for example, it is distorted or disappears, most likely it is the outdated driver that is to blame. Launch Device Manager from your computer's control panel. Go to the tab with the name of the video card and select the "update driver" item in it. Make sure that you have an active Internet connection, as the search for drivers will be carried out through it. If the system cannot find a suitable update, you can download it yourself. Open the video card manufacturer's website and go to the "Drivers" or "Drivers" section. Specify the name of your adapter and the version of the operating system, then download the distribution kit and install it.
Check your operating system for viruses and other malware using an antivirus with updated databases. The absence of an image or other problems with it may arise precisely because of the infection of the system. It is also possible that the video card is simply out of order, so you can try to replace it or check it again for operability, but on a different computer.
