To adjust the sound level on your computer, it is very convenient to use the tray icon. However, sometimes, as a result of any actions of the PC user or a virus infection of the computer, this symbol disappears. In this case, you need to restore the volume icon.
Instructions
Step 1
If your computer is running Windows XP, open the Sounds and Audio Devices node in Control Panel. Check the box "Display icon …", then confirm your choice by pressing the "OK" button. If the checkbox has already been selected, it must be unchecked by confirming the action with the "Ok" button, then put the checkbox in the checkbox again and click "Ok".
Step 2
If, when trying to install the icon, a system message was displayed with the text "You have not installed the program …", run the search bar from the "Start" menu and enter the file name - sndvol32.exe into it. This file must be located in the System32 folder (C: / Windows). If this file is not found at the specified path, copy it from the installation disk or from another computer and place it in the required folder.
Step 3
If the item is inactive, that is, not highlighted, call the "Open" line using the keyboard shortcut W + R, and then enter the regedit command. Then select the SysTray section and set dword: 0000001f to the value of the Services parameter. To remove the sound icon from the tray, enter 0000001b in the "Value" section.
Step 4
If your computer is running Windows 7 or Windows Vista, right-click on any free space in the taskbar, then select Properties from the pop-up menu. Then click "Configure" and in the list that appears, check the item "Volume". Next, set "Show icon and notifications", and then click "Enable or disable system signs" to check the result.
Step 5
If the item is inactive, call the Registry Editor using the regedit command and delete the PastIconsStream key and IconStreams in the TrayNotify section.
Step 6
Right-click on the "My Computer" icon, then select "Control" from the pop-up menu. Expand the Services and Applications tab. Find the Generic PnP Device Host item in the Services tab. Call the context menu by clicking the right mouse button, activate the "Properties" item, and then check the "Startup type Auto" item.
