The performance and stability of a computer is highly dependent on the temperature of its components. The lower it is, the better. However, many users do not pay enough attention to the PC cooling system. And if for low-power office computers this is not so important, then for gaming computers, graphics stations it will not be superfluous to increase the cooling of the processor.
It is necessary
- - cooler;
- - thermal paste;
- - case fan.
Instructions
Step 1
Before you start strengthening the cooling system, find out which processor is installed in your PC, how much heat it generates and what type of mounting (socket) it matches. You can find out the processor model, for example, in the warranty card on the PC, in the system properties, in the BIOS, or using test utilities. And knowing the processor model, go to the manufacturer's website, use the search and view the rest of the characteristics.
Step 2
Knowing the characteristics of the processor, choose a cooler for it. If possible, consult with a specialist or study the available information on specialized sites yourself. On the one hand, you shouldn't overpay, but on the other hand, an efficient, quiet and reliable cooler cannot be cheap. When choosing, try first of all to pay attention to the models with the largest fan diameter. In addition, the cooler must be removed from the radiator block and have one of the standard sizes. Subsequently, this will greatly facilitate the maintenance of the cooling system.
Step 3
Install the cooler on the processor according to the instructions. Be careful and careful during the installation process to avoid damaging both the processor and the motherboard. Be sure to apply a new layer of thermal paste to the top cover of your processor. In the event that the cooler is changed, carefully remove the remnants of the old paste with a napkin. Apply the new paste with the thinnest possible layer, its surplus will still be squeezed out of the contact zone when installing the fan.
Step 4
In addition to the processor cooler, replace or install case fans that provide cold air flow and hot air out inside the system unit. Without this, the increase in the efficiency of the cooling system may not be sufficient.
Step 5
Check with test utilities how much the processor temperature has dropped.
