Most owners of several computers or laptops prefer to connect these devices to a local network. To create the simplest home network, you do not need to use additional network equipment.

Step 1
Turn on both computers. Take a pre-prepared network cable. Connect its connectors with network cards of computers. Wait for the automatic LAN configuration on both devices.

To access another computer, press the Start and R keys at the same time. Enter the command // PC IP address in the window that opens. If you do not know the IP of the computer to which you want to connect, open the list of active networks on this PC.
Step 3
Right-click on the desired local network icon. Select "Status". In the menu that opens, click the "Details" button. Find the IP address of this network adapter in the new window.
Step 4
To avoid constantly checking the IP address of a networked computer, set it to a static (constant) value. To do this, open the "Start" menu and go to "Control Panel". Open the Network & Internet menu. Select "Network and Sharing Center". Click on the "Change adapter parameters" item.
Step 5
Now right-click on the icon of the network card that is connected to another computer. Select Properties. In the menu that opens, find and select the "Internet Protocol TCP / IP (v4)" item. Now click the Properties button.
Step 6
Activate the "Use the following IP address" function by checking the box next to the corresponding item. Enter the IP address value for this network adapter, for example 137.165.137.1. Press the Tab key to automatically detect the subnet mask.
