It is customary to integrate computers into local networks to provide synchronous access to the Internet or rapid exchange of information. When you need to build a network consisting of two PCs, you do not need to use routers or switches.

network cable

Instructions

Step 1

Purchase a network cable of the correct length with LAN connectors at both ends. It is better to use a twisted pair cable prepared for direct PC connection. Connect this cable to the network cards of both computers. Turn them on and wait for the operating system to load. After a while, the local network will be automatically detected and configured.

Step 2

In this case, the network adapters use dynamic IP addresses. Open the "Network Connections" menu located in the control panel. Right-click on the local network icon and select "Properties". Open the TCP / IP Internet Protocol Settings. Highlight this item and click the Properties button.

Step 3

Find and activate the "Use the following IP address" function. In the "IP address" field, enter its value, for example 196.194.192.1. Save the settings of this network adapter by clicking the "Apply" button. Close the menu in use.

Step 4

Change to another computer and follow the same procedure. Enter an IP address other than the first computer with the last digit, for example 196.194.192.2. If you want to connect both computers to the Internet, then set up the connection on one of them.

Step 5

Open the properties for this connection. Find and select the "Access" tab. Check the box next to "Allow other network users to use this Internet connection." Select your local network in the next paragraph. Save your settings and restart your computer.

Step 6

Open the properties of the network card of another computer. In the TCP / IP settings, find the fields "Default gateway" and "Preferred DNS server". Complete these items by entering the IP address of the computer that is connected to the Internet. Check your firewall settings if the computer has not been able to access the network.
