Skype is a simple and easy to use real-time communication application. But if you are not waiting for a communication session with another user, and the program distracts you from important things, you can close it. To do this, you need to perform several steps.
Instructions
Step 1
Typically, an indicator for Skype that is in passive mode is displayed in the notification area of the taskbar. Right-click the icon and select Quit from the drop-down menu. If necessary, confirm the action in the request window. The application will be closed. If you select the Close command from the Skype menu in the active program window, it will simply be minimized, do not confuse the two.
Step 2
You can also terminate the program through the task manager. Press the key combination Ctrl, alt="Image" and Del or right-click on the taskbar and select the "Task Manager" item in the context menu. In the window that opens, on the "Applications" tab, select the Skype item with the left mouse button and click on the "End task" button. Or open the "Processes" tab, select the line Skype.exe and click the "End Process" button.
Step 3
If Skype starts automatically every time you boot the operating system and you don't like it, please set the correct settings. Check the Startup folder: click the Start button, expand all programs, find the specified folder in the list, remove the Skype program from the submenu.
Step 4
Alternatively, open the “My Computer” component, select the Documents and Settings folder on the system disk, and in the “Administrator” subfolder, find the “Startup” folder in the programs of the main menu. Remove the shortcut to the launch file for Skype from it.
Step 5
You can also cancel automatic launch through the settings of the program itself. Open an application window, choose Options from the Tools menu. In the General settings section, uncheck the Start Skype when I start Windows box. Save the new settings with the Save button.
