The choice of a method to check the performance of a computer depends on the specific task and the direction of the user's activity. The check is performed internally by the operating system or by external programs.

It is necessary

What you need to check: the computer itself and a stably working Internet, preferably unlimited at a speed of 256 KV / s (the higher the better). The Internet is needed to download external verification programs

Instructions

Step 1

In order to determine the "nominal" performance of a computer, that is, set by the manufacturer of hardware and software, you can view the computer settings using the following sequence of steps.

Right-click on the "My Computer" shortcut.

Step 2

If the shortcut is not displayed on the desktop, go to the "Start" menu and right-click on the "Computer" or "My Computer" line - depending on the operating system, the inscription may look different.

From the menu that opens, select the "Properties" line.

Step 3

After viewing the main parameters (in addition to information about the performance and full name of the processor, the base computer index, system type, amount of installed RAM and other information are also indicated here), you can click on the "Performance Index" button to view the performance of individual system components.

You can see the degree of RAM and processor load at a given moment using the task manager - to start it, you need to press the Ctrl + Alt + Del key combination. If Windows 7 is installed on the computer, pressing the key combination brings up a menu, where, in addition to starting the Task Manager, it is suggested to restart, turn off the computer or send it to "sleep".

Step 4

For a more detailed, "real" assessment of the performance of a computer, it is worth using external programs, for example, everest, 3D mark (for 3D graphics and games), pc mark, cpu mark and others. If you need to find out if the performance of your computer is suitable for a particular game, you can either install Fraps or check it on the benchmarks built into the game. To indirectly evaluate the performance of a computer according to the principle "enough - not enough" to solve a specific problem, you can do the following - start disk defragmentation or archiving a large number of small files simultaneously with the selected task (game, computational or visualization program). If the main task is performed at an acceptable speed for the user, then the performance index is quite high.
