If you decide to create your own local network, then first select its type. To connect stationary and mobile computers, it is better to use a Wi-Fi router that allows you to create mixed networks with Internet access.
Necessary
- - network cables;
- - Wi-Fi router.
Instructions
Step 1
Using a Wi-Fi router will not only unite all your computers and laptops into a single network, but also save a certain amount of money. You will no longer need to connect each computer to the Internet by concluding several contracts with the provider. Purchase a Wi-Fi router and install this network equipment in the desired location. Connect it to AC power.
Step 2
Open the user manual for your Wi-Fi router and find the data required to access its settings. Connect the ISP cable to the WAN port of the network equipment. Connect one end of the twisted pair to the network card of your computer, and the other to the LAN connector of the router. Turn on both devices.
Step 3
Open an internet browser after loading the operating system and enter the IP address of the router into it. Log into the web-based interface of the router settings by entering your username and password. Go to Internet Setup or WAN menu. Change the parameters of the menu that opens so that they meet the requirements of the provider. Enable DHCP and NAT functionality. Set the parameters of the Firewall item at your discretion. Save the settings and reboot the network equipment. Open the Status menu and make sure the router has access to the network.
Step 4
Go to the Wireless Setup or Wi-Fi menu. Set the parameters of your access point by choosing the appropriate modes of operation of the network adapter. Be sure to set a password. Save the settings and reboot the router again.
Step 5
Connect other computers to the LAN ports. Use network cables for this. Connect mobile computers to the created access point. Check if the required devices have access to the Internet. Make sure computers can communicate over the network.
