Almost every modern personal computer, be it desktop or laptop, is equipped with sound system speakers. Despite this, most users prefer to have headphones in addition to them. This is not news for the manufacturers of operating systems, so the connection and configuration of audio devices of this kind is provided for in them and occurs, as a rule, without any unexpected difficulties.
Instructions
Step 1
After the headphones are connected to the corresponding jack on the front or rear panel of the system unit, install the software, if it was bundled with the audio device. Regular headphones do not require this, but wireless devices sometimes use additional drivers provided on the CD. Please note that the same disc may contain additional software, including for setting up the headphones.
Step 2
Adjust the headphone playback volume. If they have their own control, be sure to set it to a sufficient audibility level. Then set the volume in the operating system mixer. To open it, click on the icon with a stylized image of the speaker in the lower right corner of the screen - in the notification area of the Windows taskbar. Move the slider to the desired level and then click anywhere outside the mixer window to close it.
Step 3
If you are using a Realtek application as the audio driver, you can use the Realtek HD Manager to configure the headphones. Open it by double-clicking in the tray on an almost identical icon with a speaker, but colored orange. Use the Speakers tab to configure the headphones - it has the same effect on playback in both types of devices.
Step 4
Use the left slider in the "Main volume" section to adjust the offset of the volume level to the left or right headphone, if necessary. Check the "Headphone Surround" checkbox to use this option when playing 5- or 8-channel recordings.
Step 5
On the Sound Effect tab, select an additional effect that simulates sound in large and small rooms or uses preset equalizer settings. When all the necessary settings are changed, close the "Manager" window.
