Operating system fonts are used to display text on the monitor screen. In Windows OS it is possible to change fonts for different elements. A special component is responsible for resizing objects and text on the screen.
Instructions
Step 1
In Windows, fonts refers to a typeface that is characterized by stroke width and the presence (or absence) of serifs. Fonts can have multiple weights: bold, italic, and bold italic.
Step 2
To change the font that is used for the main objects in the operating system (captions to files and folders, labels on window panels, and so on), you need to call the "Display" component. This can be done in different ways. Fastest: right-click on the desktop (in any area free of files and folders) and select the "Properties" item in the context menu with the left mouse button.
Step 3
Longer path: Press the Windows key or the Start button, select Control Panel from the menu, open the Appearance and Themes category and left-click on the Display icon, or select any of the available tasks at the top of the window. If the "Control Panel" is displayed in the classic view, there will be no jobs, and the "Display" component is available immediately.
Step 4
In the "Display Properties" dialog box that opens, go to the "Appearance" tab. If you need to change (decrease or increase) only the font size, select the desired value in the Font size group using the drop-down list and click the Apply button for the new settings to take effect.
Step 5
In the event that you want to work with fonts in more detail, select not only the size, but also the font style, on the same "Design" tab, click on the "Advanced" button. A new "Additional Appearance" dialog box will open. In the "Element" group, use the drop-down list to select the element for which you want to change the font.
Step 6
For some elements, the Font group may be grayed out. In other cases (when the next element is selected) the specified group is available for editing. Use the drop-down list to set the desired font style, in the "Size" group select the value in points, in the "Color" group use the palette to select, the font style (italic, bold) can be selected using the buttons.
Step 7
After making all the necessary changes, click the OK button in the "Additional design" window, the "Apply" button in the display properties window and close the window using the OK button or the [x] icon in the upper right corner of the window.
