Step 1

There are several ways to restore fonts, and each of them will be correct. For example, if you recently work with a personal computer and you have a friend who has the same version of the system, you can contact him. It can copy the contents of the font folder to any medium.

Step 2

All fonts, from system to amateur fonts, can be found in the C: WINDOWSFonts folder. If during the installation of the system the path to the system folder changed, for example, instead of the Windows directory, you have WinXP, etc., therefore, you need to look for the Fonts folder in the corresponding directory.

Step 3

Copy all the fonts that your friend brought you by pressing the key combination Ctrl + A and Ctrl + C. Go to the folder with the system fonts, press the key combination Ctrl + V, answer positively to the requests to replace the file that appear. Also, a distribution kit with fonts can be downloaded from some Internet resources if your friends have a different version of the operating system installed from yours.

This is not the only way and you can do everything much faster if you have the operating system distribution kit from which the installation took place. Before using it, you must restart your computer and log into the system using safe mode. When the computer boots, press the F8 button, in the menu that appears, select the "Safe Mode" item.

Step 5

Using Windows Explorer, find the folder with fonts, select them and delete them by pressing the Delete button or the Ctrl + Delete key combination. Now you can start restoring the default set of fonts.

Step 6

Open the CD / DVD drive tray and insert the Windows operating system disc.

Step 7

Press the Win + R keyboard shortcut (Start menu, Run command) and type Cmd. In the command line that opens, copy and paste the following line expand -r E: i386 *.tt_% SystemRoot% Fonts. Press the Enter key. It should be noted that the letter E is taken as the letter of the CD / DVD drive.

Step 8

When deleting all fonts from the corresponding folder, remember that the system file Decktop.ini cannot be deleted. If this does happen, open any text editor and copy the following lines into a new document:

Then press the key combination Ctrl + S, in the File name field enter Decktop.ini, specify the Fonts folder as the directory in which this file will be saved.
