Often, users are faced with the problem of branching the Internet connection to several computers. The easiest option is to connect an additional account with the provider. Simple but not the best way. Firstly, several cables will run in the apartment, and secondly, from a financial point of view, the process is quite expensive. But there are options in which the purchase of expensive equipment is not required, and maintenance costs are generally reduced to zero.

In the first case, you will need a switch and an additional network card for the main computer. Connect a computer using a network cable to the first port of the switch through a new network card. Go to the properties of the new local network, Internet Protocol TCP / IP. Enter the IP address 192.168.0.1.

Step 2

Connect other, secondary, computers to the switch using network cables. In the local network settings, specify the IP address 192.168.0. Y, where Y is any number from 2 to 200. And in the lines “default gateway” and “preferred DNS server” specify 192.168.0.1.

Step 3

In the Internet connection settings on the host computer, enable Internet sharing for the local network that other computers are using.

Step 4

If you decide to use a router, then connect an Internet cable to it to the Internet (WAN) port. Connect other computers to available LAN ports. Go to the router settings by typing //192.168.0.1 in the address bar of the browser. Enter the data of the Internet settings in accordance with the requirements of the provider.

Step 5

On all computers, in the TCP / IP settings, specify "obtain an IP address automatically" and "obtain a DNS server address automatically".
