Few people want their mailbox, forum account, or social media account to be hacked. However, almost no one takes steps against such actions of intruders.

Instructions

Step 1

Never use phone numbers, dates of birth, weddings, car numbers, or any other data that could be known to intruders in passwords.

Step 2

Do not create a password with only numbers, unless otherwise impossible (for example, if it is a PIN code). An attacker can pick up such an access code using a conventional counter.

Step 3

Do not use one-word passwords from any dictionary. Remember that a hacker also has various dictionaries in electronic form, as well as a special program for enumerating all the words from it. Introduce an uncharacteristic mistake into the word (a mistake like “hamyag” instead of “hamster” is typical, but “hamster” is not) and it will be much more difficult to pick it up. If you want to use words from dictionaries in your password, combine at least three of them that do not belong to the same category together (for example, "kettle-horse", and the selection of such a combination will be very difficult.

Step 4

For even more protection, use alternating uppercase and lowercase letters in your password. For example, even the password "HydroElectRostation" is more difficult to find, since the dictionary does not contain information about which letters in it are uppercase and which are lowercase. If you combine this technique with the ones described above ("CHAINYKKLENLOSHAD"), then the degree of password protection from guessing will be much higher.

Step 5

To further improve security, add numbers to the password and, if allowed, punctuation marks. For example: "CHAIN> u3KleNlo0Sa4db?".

Step 6

If you register on a particular server, indicating the address of your e-mail box in order to ensure the possibility of password recovery, take care of the quality of protection of this box. After hacking it, attackers can then hack all the services on which you registered using this mailbox. In it, in addition to setting a complex password, enter a random combination of characters as an answer to the question to recover it.

Step 7

Never give any passwords to third parties, do not store them on pieces of paper, in a notebook, on your phone, in files on your computer. Just memorize them. There are various mnemonic techniques that anyone can use to memorize complex combinations of symbols.

Step 8

And the last thing. Do not use exactly those combinations of characters that are given in this article as passwords, because everyone now knows them. Come up with your own.
