Recently, users of personal computers have begun to frequently use emulation systems to extend the lifespan of rare and collectible discs. These programs are designed to create virtual disk images. In some cases, it is required to deactivate these utilities due to a conflict with other software.

Necessary

A computer with an emulator installed

Instructions

Step 1

The emulation system helps to create an exact copy of the disc. An example of such programs are special utilities: Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and others. Before creating an image, you should think about the legality of the material you are using. The created copy cannot be redistributed, unless it is your disk. The material downloaded from the Internet must be removed after review.

Step 2

As a rule, emulator programs are launched even at system startup, so you can easily find the executable files of these applications in the system memory. The main location is the tray panel or a minimized utility window. You can choose one of two options: unloading the program from memory or deactivating the disk image from the virtual drive.

Step 3

Unloading an executable file from memory is the most radical way, sometimes even too radical. You need to move the focus of the mouse cursor to the tray, hover over the desired icon and select "Close" or "Exit" from the context menu. The context menu is invoked by pressing the right mouse button; on the keyboard, press the key of the bottom row, which is located between alt="Image" and Ctrl.

Step 4

If for some reason this program freezes and does not want to listen to your commands, try to hack it down at the root. To do this, launch the "Task Manager" by pressing the key combination Ctrl + alt="Image" + Delete (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) or by selecting the corresponding item in the context menu of the taskbar. Find the application name by first selecting the "Processes" tab and sorting by username. Select it, press the Delete key (or select “End the process” in the context menu) and in the window that appears, click on the “OK” button.

Step 5

To deactivate a disk image, just open the program, go to the virtual drive and select the "Unmount image" ("Eject disk") item.
