When registering with the Xbox live service, the player binds his tag (aka profile, aka account) to the so-called Windows live ID, or, simply put, an email address. If you suddenly need to change this address, you will need to follow these steps.

Instructions

Step 1

Turn on your console, and on the My Xbox page, go to your avatar. Go to the "Account Management" page and select "Account Management" there. If this page is unavailable, then you are logged in under an offline profile or the console is simply not connected to the World Wide Web.

Step 2

Go to the "Your Details" page, select "Windows Live ID" there and click "Change Windows Live ID". Next, the system will prompt you to switch to a different identifier. You may already have one if you have an account with Hotmail, MSN (Microsoft Network's web portal), Xbox.com, Zune, or Passport Network (predecessor to Windows Live ID). In this case, click "Yes" and specify it. Otherwise, you need to create such an account yourself. Drop the joystick, sit down at your computer and go to the registration page for the Windows live service (see the link at the very end of the article).

Step 3

After registering, return to the console, enter the password for the identifier currently associated with your account and click "Login". Then enter the password and email address for the new ID and click "Login" again. Click "Yes" to change the identifier, then click "Update contact details" for the changes to take effect and, finally, the "Finish" button.
