Sometimes it becomes necessary to make some changes to the user account: change the picture or password for entering the system, change the type of account. Let's see how this can be done using Microsoft Windows tools.
Necessary
To change the account type, you will need to log in with an administrator account or a member of the Administrators group
Instructions
Step 1
Click the Start button and open Control Panel. Find and open "User Accounts".
Step 2
A window will open containing a list of user accounts for this computer. Select the entry you would like to change.
Step 3
The next page is "Making Changes to a User Account." Here you can: create or change a user password, change a picture, change the name and type of account. In the next steps, we will take a closer look at these steps.
Step 4
Password creation. This dialog requires you to enter a new password, confirm it and enter, if desired, a security question. In Windows, the password can consist of letters, numbers, symbols and spaces. The password is case-sensitive. To keep your computer secure, we recommend that you always use strong passwords, i.e. a password of at least eight characters, containing no words, and not matching those previously used.
Step 5
Change Password. In this dialog, you need to enter the current password, a new password, confirm it and enter, if desired, a security question.
Step 6
Select a new drawing. On this page, you can change the picture that appears next to the username when they log in on the Welcome screen and on the Start menu. The user account picture makes it easier to identify the user account on the computer. You can choose a picture from the list of proposed ones or upload your own by clicking "Search for other pictures …". You can use an image of any size for this purpose, but with one of the following file name extensions: JPG, PNG, BMP, or GIF.
Step 7
Change the type of account. This action is available only to an administrator or a member of the Administrators group. For most users, it is recommended to use regular accounts.
Users with "Basic Access" can use most programs and change some system settings that do not affect the security of the computer. Administrators have full access to the system settings and can make any changes.
Windows requires at least one administrator account on the computer. If there is only one account on the computer, then it is impossible to make it a regular one.
