Steam is a popular gaming service. Its use is implemented through the Steam program, which, like any other application, can malfunction. If the service client does not start, you may need to delete some program files or restart the application.

Step 1
If Steam does not start, it is likely that its process is simply frozen in the computer's memory. A hung process prevents a new program file from starting. To remove an unnecessary task, press the Ctrl, alt="Image" and Del key combinations of the computer keyboard. In the menu that appears, select "Task Manager".

You will see a list of processes that are currently running on the computer. Among them, find the name Steam.exe and right-click on it. In the context menu, click End to remove the process from memory. If simple termination does not help, right-click again and select “End Process Tree”. Once the operation is complete, close the Task Manager window and try starting Steam.

If this procedure does not help, there are alternative solutions. Go to the program directory, which can be found in the "Start" - "Computer" - "Local drive C:" - Program Files - Steam. Delete the files tier0_s64.dll and tier0_s.dll, then double click on Steam.exe to run the program.

If the above methods don't work, try deleting all files in the Steam directory except Steam.exe and steamapps. After uninstalling, double-click Steam.exe to test the functionality of the program.

If there is no reaction to the launch, you can reinstall the service client, but first you will need to clean up the system from unnecessary program files. Run the CCleaner utility on your computer. If the program is not installed, download it from the developer's official website and install according to the prompts on the screen.

Go to the official Steam website and download the most recent version of the client from the Install Steam section. After finishing downloading the program, run the resulting file and install the program. Then use the created shortcut on the desktop to launch the application.
