Step 1
Connect your computer to the network if you haven't done so before. Step 2
Check if there is a network connection. Start the "Network Neighborhood" service, or the Network and Sharing Center if you are running Windows 7. The network connection shortcut must be active and signed "Connected". If you have a USB modem, it connects when you press the "Connect" button. Standard fiber-optic modems are automatically connected when the computer is turned on.
Step 3
Enter the necessary settings for the network adapter - your internal network IP address, default gateway, subnet mask. Disable Windows Firewall and tell your antivirus software that the network connection is trustworthy. Check if the network connection is working by going to an open folder on your computer from another computer on the local network. If you can transfer data to each other over the network, then your computer is ready to play over the network.
Step 4
If your computer is not configured correctly, or has non-working software - an operating system with corrupted system files and persistent errors, be prepared that you will not be able to play over the network. The game will "slow down" and you will be easily bypassed in the game by other participants.
