Routers are needed to connect the Internet to multiple computers. When there is only one computer at home, you do not need to use a router. If you previously had a home network built using a router, and then, for some reason, you no longer need to connect to the Internet on other home computers, in this case the router must be turned off. You also need to reconfigure your internet connection.

Instructions

Step 1

If your router has a router on / off button, then first turn off the router by clicking on it (if there is no such button, then the procedure for further actions is the same). Unplug the router from the electrical outlet, then disconnect all connected wires from the router. The router is now disconnected from the computer.

Step 2

Now you should turn off the Internet mode through the router. To do this, you need to reconfigure your ADSL modem to the "Bridge" operating mode. Turn on your ADSL modem. Click "Start" and select "Control Panel". Then go to "Network Connections" and select "Default gateway", and in it - "Connect to the web interface of an ADSL modem using a username and password."

Step 3

Launch any internet browser. Enter "192.168.1.1" in the address bar. In the opened pages, select the WAN line. Now go to the Internet connection settings, find the Mode parameter and set it to the Bridge mode. Then save the settings by clicking the Apply button. Now the mode of operation of the router is disabled.

Step 4

Next, you need to set up an Internet connection in Bridge mode. To do this, go to the "Control Panel" and select the "Network Connections" option, then - "Internet Connection Settings".

Step 5

Then you need to set up your network connection using the settings of your ISP. These settings should clearly describe step-by-step actions to create the desired network connection. Following the instructions, enter all the necessary settings.

Step 6

When you set up your connection, go to the "Network Connections" folder. Select the network connection you just created and send the shortcut to your desktop. To connect to the Internet, click on this shortcut and select the "Connect" command. The Internet connection will be established already in the "Bridge" mode.
