Not all users know that reinstalling the operating system itself is not difficult - difficulties begin later, because for the laptop to work correctly, the installation of drivers (programs necessary for the correct operation of the equipment) is required. This also applies to HP laptops.
Driver installation options
Option one: you have a disc that was included in the distribution kit (or its image recorded on a disc). Most of these disks have a very simple interface and the function of express installation of drivers. Choose this option, and the computer will do everything by itself (during the installation process, it will most likely reboot several times, this is normal). If there were no errors during the express installation process, then everything went well.
Option two: follow the link https://www.hp.ru/support/drivers/ to the section of the HP official website and indicate the model of your laptop (in case of an unsuccessful express installation of drivers from the disk, you will also have to use this option). On the site, you will be asked to check for updates or indicate the version of the operating system. Since you have nothing to check for updates yet, select your OS and click "Next". Almost the same page will open, but below will be a list of drivers for your laptop. In addition to them, there will most likely be special programs - utilities, but it is better not to download them if you do not know their purpose. In any case, first of all, click on the lines that begin with the word "Driver".
Manual installation
The most needed are the drivers for the chipset (for the chipset, MEI, Smart Connect Technology, etc.), then for the graphics. Keep in mind that the graphics driver from Intel is installed first, and then from NVIDIA. It is also better to install other drivers, but they are already needed solely for your convenience, so they are installed last.
Since the most popular OS at the moment is Windows 7, then the process will be considered on its example below. So, first open the Device Manager by right-clicking on the "Computer" icon, then click on "Properties" and "Device Manager". There, find the equipment with the "Attention!" (yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle) and open it. In the "Properties" window that appears, select the "Driver" tab and click "Uninstall". For some time (from a couple of seconds to several minutes), the driver will be uninstalled, then a restart request may appear, for now, refuse.
Click the Update Hardware Configuration button in Device Manager. Wait for the laptop to check all of its hardware. Then the system will open the Found New Hardware Wizard window. Select "Search for drivers on this computer", and then select the folder with the downloaded drivers. The system itself will select and install the required driver. It is after this that you need to reboot the system.
