Step 1
During the transition, you can use the openSuSE Linux distributions and, of course, Ubuntu / Kubuntu / Xubuntu. But still, it is better to take the distribution that is closer to the official version. Before installing Linux, start using open programs instead of closed ones. For example, you can work instead of Microsoft Office at OpenOffice.org. You can use The OpenCD. By using these programs, you will get used to Linux faster. Use open formats. This will allow you to switch to Linux operating system faster and more comfortably. Use so-called "live" distributions whenever possible. For example, you can use Knoppix. Select a distribution to migrate. Install the software on your computer and configure any required programs.
Step 2
GNU / Linux allows you to use Windows OS in parallel. The operating system can be selected when the computer boots up. Back up any important files before proceeding. Save everything on a separate partition on your hard drive. Before migrating to Linux, check if your hardware supports the software.
Step 3
Export your Outlook mail settings as needed. To do this, select the File and Import and Export sections. Click the Next button. Next, select Personal Folder File. Select the section called Personal Folders located at the top, specify Include Subfolders. Do not uninstall Windiows during installation. If you run into problems with Linux, you can return to normal operation.
Step 4
Start your distribution. Go to your computer in BIOS, Specify there the CD that will be used as bootable. The Linux disk will start to boot. Installation is done in two sections - root and SWAP. Select the components to install and make all the settings. You can not install all programs at once, but only those that you need to work.
