When building your own local network, several nuances must be taken into account. Naturally, if you need to connect networked computers to the Internet, you need additional equipment.
It is necessary
- - switch;
- - network cables.
Instructions
Step 1
Purchase a network hub (switch). This equipment is required to unite all computers into a single network. Remember that laptops can also be connected to it. Now choose a computer that is powerful enough to be connected to the Internet. Purchase a network card and install it on the selected PC.
Step 2
Install the drivers for this network card. Now connect all computers and other devices to the network hub. Connect this equipment to the mains. From the PC that you have chosen to perform the functions of the router, access the Internet.
Step 3
Set up your internet connection by creating a new connection and entering the required information. Be sure to check its performance. Now open the menu containing the list of active networks of this computer. Go to the properties of the network adapter that is connected to the switch. Open the TCP / IP Internet Protocol Settings.
Step 4
Activate the "Use the following IP address" function. Set the static (permanent) IP address to 101.124.124.1. Save the settings for this menu. Open the properties of your Internet connection and go to the "Access" tab. Find and activate a feature that allows other network users to use this Internet connection.
Step 5
At this stage, the configuration of the first PC is completed. Now open the properties of the network adapters of the rest of the computers. In this case, we are talking about the network cards connected to the hub. Configure the TCP / IP protocol as follows:
- 101.124.124. X - IP address
- 255.0.0.0 - Subnet mask
- 101.124.124.1 - The main gateway
- 101.124.124.1 - DNS servers.
Please note that the X parameter must be greater than one, but less than 250. Save the settings and reboot all computers. Make sure that the first PC has an active Internet access.
