While working with a computer, the user launches the application, and then, using the graphical interface elements, transfers the necessary information to the program. In addition to the graphical interface, there are several options for sending commands. One of the most common is launching an application with parameters.
Instructions
Step 1
When computers were large and their programs were small, the only way to interact with the computer was by typing text commands from the keyboard. And this was a big improvement over punched cards or punched tapes, where information was encoded by a combination of holes in thick paper. The days of punch cards are long gone, but text commands are still widely used. One of the options for using text commands is to run programs with parameters. The parameters can be used to transfer the settings hidden in the graphical interface to the program. For example, by launching a Counter Strike game with the "-console" parameter (without quotes), the user will gain access to the game's hidden command menu.
Step 2
You can run the ex machina game with parameters using the windows command line. In order to do this, first open the explorer, find the folder with the game and write down the full path to it, as well as the name of the executable file - "executable". Then press the key combination win + r and then Enter on the keyboard. In the dialog that opens, enter the line cmd and press Enter. A black window will open with a blinking cursor. All subsequent commands are entered in this window. The Enter button is used to launch the command for execution. It must be pressed every time after entering a line. Now you need to go to the folder where the game is located. To do this, enter the cd command, followed by the previously written full absolute path to the game folder. Enter the name of the executable file, separated by a hyphen - the parameter with which you want to start the game. After pressing the Enter key, the game will be launched.
Step 3
In order to make it easier to launch applications with a parameter, the windows operating system has a mechanism that allows you to avoid manually entering commands each time you start the game. To use it, create a shortcut to the application. Go to the properties of the shortcut. Enter the required parameter in the "object" field, separated by a hyphen. Click the OK graphical button in the edit shortcut properties window. Now, when the application is launched using a shortcut, the parameter will be automatically passed to the application. It is much more convenient and faster than entering the required parameters manually each time you start.
