A keyboard layout is called a table of correspondence between keys and letters of the alphabet. Switching from one lookup table to another is most often used to change the input language, but this is not necessary - even for the Russian language, there are several layout options. Windows has built-in tools to customize how you switch from one layout to another.
Instructions
Step 1
Right-click the icon showing the current input language. In the drop-down context menu, select "Options" to access the operating system component under the heading "Text Input Languages and Services". This component can be opened in another way - through the standard program launch dialog. To do this, press the key combination WIN + R, enter the command control intl.cpl,, 1 and click on the "OK" button. In the window that opens, click the "Details" button.
Step 2
Click on the "Keyboard Options" button located in the "Settings" section of the "Options" tab of this window that opens by default.
Step 3
Select in the list "Keyboard shortcuts for input languages" the line "Switch between input languages" and click on the "Change keyboard shortcuts" button.
Step 4
Check the boxes next to the most suitable keyboard shortcut option to change the layout. Then click OK and close the now unnecessary Advanced Keyboard Settings and Languages and Text Services windows.
Step 5
Use the additional software for more advanced options for customizing keyboard layout switching options and for more multi-input language functionality. For example, it can be the Punto Switcher program, which can automatically recognize the input language and this significantly reduces the number of "manual" keyboard layouts. In addition to this function, the program makes it possible to assign additional keyboard shortcuts to switch layouts, automatically correct some errors, sound the events of automatic layout switching, and much more.
