Avira AntiVir is an antivirus program provided by Avira. The Personal product is distributed free of charge and serves to protect against worms, Trojans and various viruses. The Premium version offers advanced virus protection and is distributed for a very nominal fee. It is not difficult to install Avira AntiVir and configure it for personal needs.
Instructions
Step 1
Download the correct version from the Avira website. To do this, go to the developer's official website, in the "For home / Antivirus for home PC" field, click on the "Learn more" link. On the page that opens, select the required version of the product by clicking on the Buy button (for Premium) or Download (for Personal). In the first case, fill out the form, select a payment method and follow the further instructions. In the second case, the download will start immediately; specify the directory to save the file, wait for the download to complete.
Step 2
Run the file you just downloaded (avira_antivir_personal_ru.exe) by clicking on it with the left mouse button, or click on the icon once and select the "Open" command. This software is installed automatically. For the paid version, you need to register the product. Follow the instructions in the installer to install Avira antivirus on your hard drive. Restart your computer - the antivirus will start automatically.
Step 3
Open the Avira control panel by double-clicking on the antivirus icon with the left mouse button in the taskbar (white outline of an open umbrella on a red background). The main page contains information about the status and version of the program, the date of its last update and the last scan of the system for viruses. Update the program by clicking on the line "Start update".
Step 4
It has already become customary that some applications are recognized by antiviruses as malware, although they do not pose any harm. If you have such files on your computer, add them to exclusions to prevent the antivirus from scanning and quarantining them. To do this, select the "Advanced" item in the top menu bar and click on the "Configuration" line or press the F8 key.
Step 5
Press the "Yes" button if the program asks for confirmation of switching to expert mode. In the window that opens, expand the Scanner branch, select the Scan submenu and place the cursor on the Exceptions item. In the right part of the window, in an empty field, specify the path to the file that you do not need to scan, or specify the directory using the […] button, click the "Add" button, close the window by clicking the OK button.
