Recovering a damaged user profile is a rather difficult, but quite doable, operation even for an experienced computer user. An indispensable condition for obtaining the desired result is to log on to the system under the computer administrator account.
Instructions
Step 1
Press the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "Control Panel" item to initiate the procedure for restoring a damaged user profile.
Step 2
Select the item "User accounts" and expand the link "Create a new account".
Step 3
Enter the desired name in the dialog box that opens and select the type "Administrator".
Step 4
Click the Create Account button to confirm the command and close the User Accounts tool.
Step 5
Return to the main Start menu and go to Shut Down.
Step 6
Click the "End Session" button in the "Shut Down" dialog box that opens and re-enter the system under the created account to create a user profile.
Step 7
Log out again and sign in with your old account.
Step 8
Click the "Start" button to call the main menu and open the context menu of the "My Computer" item by right-clicking.
Step 9
Select Properties and go to the Advanced tab in the System Properties dialog box that opens.
Step 10
Click the Options button in the User Profiles group and specify the user profile to be fixed in the list of the dialog box that opens.
Step 11
Click the Copy to Folder button and use the Browse button in the new dialog to select the newly created user subfolder in the Documents and Settings folder.
Step 12
Press the OK button to perform the copy operation and confirm your choice by pressing the "yes" button in the request window that opens.
Step 13
Close all open windows and log off.
Step 14
Log in again with the newly created user account with the restored user profile.
