Step 1
If you have a package of the boot disk for your operating system, then the easiest way is to look at the assembly like this. The number can be written on the inside of the package. Also, sometimes the version of the Windows assembly is written directly on the disk with the OS distribution kit.

Using this method, you can find out the assembly of the Windows operating system, regardless of its version. Click Start. Select "All Programs". Find and open Accessories in the list of programs. Find the command line among the standard programs.

At the command prompt, enter winver. After a few seconds, a window will appear in which there will be basic information about your operating system. In this window, there will be information about the version of the OS assembly.

Alternatively, you can enter dxdiag at the command line. After a few seconds, the Direct X Diagnostic Tool will start. The first window that opens will show basic information about your system. Find the line "Operating System". Among all the values for this line is the build version of your operating system. The build number is written at the end of the line.

You can also type msinfo32.exe at the command line. Extended information about your OC will appear. Among them, look for the line "Version". The value of this line is the build number of your operating system.
Step 6
If for some reason you do not have access to the command line, then you can find out the version of the operating system assembly in this way. Open your system drive, then successively the Windows and System32 folders. If you have a 64-bit operating system, then, accordingly, you should open the System64 folder.
Step 7
In this folder, find a file named Winver.exe. Click on this file by double-clicking the left mouse button. In a second, a window will appear, which will contain information about the version of the assembly of your OS.
