In the seventh version of Microsoft's operating system, the most popular today, changes have been made to the familiar appearance of folders. For each of the folders, the system uses a display scheme at its discretion. This is quite convenient, but, if you wish, you can customize the same look for all folders as the user likes.
Instructions
Step 1
Folder view settings in Windows 7 are mostly hidden from the user. By default, you can only open a folder and use the slider in the upper right part of the window to configure the display according to the principle: large or small icons, tiles, list, table. Sometimes these settings are remembered for some folders, but more often you have to configure them again each time you open them.
Step 2
Open any folder through "My Computer" or in any other way. The main thing is that you have at least one folder open. Then press the Alt key on your keyboard. When you click, under the address bar at the top of the folder window, the menu bar File / Edit / View / Service / Help, familiar from older versions of Windows, will appear. Release alt="Image" and choose the folder options that suit you from the "View" menu. You can customize how catalogs are grouped, for example by name, size, or creation date.
Step 3
When you have configured everything you need, select the "Tools" menu item and then the "Folder Options" submenu. The settings window will open with three tabs: "General", "View" and "Search".

Activate the "View" tab by clicking on it with the mouse button. You will see two parts of the preferences window: Folder View and Advanced Options.
Step 5
Click the "Apply to folders" button at the top of the window so that all folders are displayed with the settings that you have set. If you change your mind, simply click the Cancel button and reconfigure the view of the catalogs.

Also, in the additional parameters section, tick the necessary items. For example, if you don't want to press alt="Image" to bring up the folder menu, check the box next to "Always show menu". Another convenient feature of this menu is the "Restore Defaults" button. It is very useful in cases where for some reason the settings have not been applied, or are set incorrectly. Instead of a long search for the cause, simply reset all parameters to their original state, and then change them to your liking.
