Image processing in Adobe Photoshop usually consists of several operations sequentially applied to the original image. Each stage makes changes, and the subsequent ones are no longer applied to the original, but to the image distorted by previous corrections. To avoid this, you can use "adjustment layers". Additional convenience: even after layering several corrections, it remains possible to adjust the parameters of previous changes.

Instructions

Step 1

To create such an adjustment layer, open the "Layer" section in the menu and select the "New Adjustment Layer" item. This will open a list of available correction types, from which you should select the one you need.

Step 2

You can do it differently: at the bottom of the layers window, click the icon with a black and white circle. When you hover the mouse cursor over it, a tooltip pops up with the text "Create a New Adjustment Layer or Fill Layer". Clicking on the icon brings up the same list of possible types of adjustments for selection.

Step 3

There is another possibility to add an adjustment layer to an open document. Since this layer, in fact, is no different from ordinary layers, it is possible to perform similar manipulations with it. Among other things, you can drag an adjustment layer from one open document to another, thus creating a copy. That is, you can apply sets of created and saved corrections to images of the same type by copying them from document to document, rather than recreating them.

Step 4

Subsequently, to edit the settings of an adjustment layer created by any of the methods, double-click its thumbnail with the left mouse button. As a result, the standard settings window for the applied adjustment will open.
