Layers in Photoshop are like a stack of glass sheets on which an image is applied. If you want to add an additional part to the general drawing, which can be moved and edited without touching the rest of the parts, this part must lie on a transparent layer. Creating a layer like this with Photoshop is a fairly simple step.

Instructions
Step 1
The graphics editor Photoshop allows you to generate a transparent layer as the background layer of a new document. To create it, use the New option from the File menu or the Ctrl + N key combination. Enter the linear dimensions of the document in the window that opens, select its resolution from the Resolution drop-down list and a color mode from the Color Mode list. A document with a transparent background can be created in any of the color modes available in Photoshop except Bitmap.
Step 2
After pressing the OK button in the parameters window of the created document, you will notice that the background layer is painted with white-gray cells. This way Photoshop displays the transparency of the layer. To create a new transparent layer in an existing document, use the Layer option from the New group of the Layer menu. In the settings window of the created layer, you can immediately enter its name and specify the blending mode. However, all these settings can be subsequently edited through the layers palette.
Step 3
If you are used to using hot keys, you can create a new transparent layer by pressing the Shift + Ctrl + N combination. After that, a window will appear with the same settings for the created layer.
Step 4
There is another way to create a transparent layer. To do this, click on the Create a new layer button. It's the second button from the right below the layers palette. A new transparent layer will appear above the active layer without additional dialog boxes.
Step 5
If at the end of the work you need to get a single-layer file on a transparent background, flatten the layers with the Merge Visible command from the Layer menu and save the file in psd, tiff,.png"
